Norman J. Zillman – Non-Executive Chairman of Canning Petroleum Pty Ltd

Norman Zillman is a professional geologist (B.Sc. Geology and B.Sc. Hons. Botany University of Queensland) with more than 40 years experience in minerals, petroleum, coal, coal bed methane and geothermal exploration and production in Australia and internationally. His initial experience was as a petroleum geologist with international companies Aquitaine Petroleum in Australia and Papua New Guinea and Union Oil Company of California in Australia and Indonesia. Mr Zillman has occupied the positions of Deputy CEO of Crusader Limited, General Manager Exploration and Production with Beach Petroleum N L and Claremont Petroleum Limited and Manager of the Petroleum Branch of the Queensland Department of Mines and Energy and State Mining Engineer for Petroleum. From 1994 to early 1998 Mr Zillman was Regional Manager of Northern Queensland for the Queensland department of Mines and Energy, based in Charters Towers, where he supervised all aspects of mineral exploration and mining activities in that region including among others, the Ravenswood, Pajingo, Mt Leyshon and Thalanga Mines.

More recently Norm has been responsible for a number of successful public resource floats on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). He was the inaugural Managing Director and a Founder of Coal Bed Methane (CBM) company Queensland Gas Company Limited (QGC) being responsible for the initial acquisition of all of its areas, the successful floating on the ASX and the discovery of QGC’s first CBM gas field Argyle. He was also the inaugural Chairman and Founder of conventional oil and gas company Great Artesian Oil and Gas Limited (GOG) which he also successfully listed on the ASX resulting in numerous oil and gas discoveries.

Norm was also non-executive Chairman and a Founder of Blue Energy Limited (BUL), Hot Rock Limited (HRL) and a Director and Founder of Planet Gas Limited (PGS). He was a Founder and still is a significant shareholder of Bandanna Energy Limited.

Norm is presently non-executive co-Chairman of Chinalco Yunnan Copper Resources Limited (CYU), non-executive Chairman of Burleson Energy Limited (BUR) and non-executive Director of Earth Heat Resources Limited (EHR) and Red Gum Resources Limited. Norm is a member of Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (Aust.I.M.M) and the Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia (PESA).


J. Scott Hornafius BA PhD (Geology) – Executive Director of Canning Petroleum Pty Ltd

Scott Hornafius has 30 years of global experience in oil and gas exploration and development. Scott was President and CEO of MegaEnergy, Inc., from 2000 until 2011, during which time he oversaw the land, geophysical, drilling and production operations of the company. Scott still serves as a Director of MegaEnergy and is a founding shareholder of the company. MegaEnergy was a pioneer in the Marcellus Shale development in the Appalachian Basin, and is currently involved in two Marcellus Shale horizontal drilling projects in Pennsylvania. While serving as President of MegaEnergy, Scott raised $15.5 million in private equity from sophisticated oil and gas investors, and was responsible for negotiating $120 million in asset sales. Prior to founding MegaEnergy, Scott had a successful career with Mobil Oil Corporation, including management and technical roles in projects involving onshore and offshore California exploration, heavy oil steam floods, horizontal drilling projects, and North Sea and Gulf of Mexico deep-water exploration programs. Scott served as Geological Manager in Papua New Guinea for Mobil Oil in 1989-1991 and was a secondee in 1997-1998 to the Licensing Branch of the Department of Trade and Industry in the British government, in which he administered the 8th Landward Round.


Michael Sandy BSc Hons (Geology) - Director of Canning Petroleum Pty Ltd

Michael Sandy has over 35 years experience in the resources industry including 25 years in oil and gas. This includes extensive experience in Papua New Guinea with the government, Oil Search and as a consultant. In 1994/5 Mike was involved in the IPO of Novus Petroleum, the largest initial capital raising for an oil and gas company in the history of the ASX ($158m equity and $33m debt). He held senior roles with Novus until it was taken over in 2005. These included commercial roles such as managing acquisitions and divestments, takeover defense and fund raising, as well as asset management responsibility in various regions of the world including in Australia, assets in the main Cooper Basin production area, and West Australian assets such as Harriet and Airlie Island (Novus was operator for a time) and various offshore permits. More recently Mike has been involved in transforming existing companies such as Caspian Oil and Gas (CIG) into an energy company, as well as setting up, floating and running new companies, including raising new capital for Burleson Energy (BUR) and Hot Rock Ltd (HRL). He is executive director of BUR (assets onshore USA), and non-executive director of CIG (central Asia), HRL (geothermal in Australia and South America) and Tap Oil (mainly SE Asia and Australia - including interests in Harriet, Woollybutt, Zola, Finucane/Fletcher and other exploration acreage).


James P Bouchard – Finance Director of Canning Petroleum Pty Ltd

James P. Bouchard is the founder, Chairman, and CEO of Esmark, Inc., a privately held US company holding a variety of diverse business ventures, including steel service centers, oil and natural gas interests, real estate investments, aviation and manufacturing. Jim was the founder, Chairman, and CEO of the former Esmark Incorporated, a steel servicer and distributer, and Chairman and CEO of Wheeling Pittsburgh Corporation (formerly NASDAQ:WPSC), a steel producer, as well as the combined Esmark Incorporated (formerly NASDAQ:ESMK). The combined company was subsequently acquired by Russian steelmaker OAO Severstal in August 2008. As CEO of these companies, Jim was responsible for oversight of all aspects of business operations, including domestic and international sales and strategic planning. Prior to founding Esmark Incorporated, Jim was Vice President-Commercial for U.S. Steel in Europe, residing in Kosice, Slovak Republic. He was a member of the executive team that U.S. Steel sent to Kosice before and after having acquired the Slovakian National Steel Company (VSZ). Jim is widely credited with the successful commercial restructuring, implementation, and subsequent growth strategy of the company's global and European sales, marketing, strategic planning, production planning, and customer service initiatives.


Robert Grundy BS (Geology) – Technical Director of Canning Petroleum Pty Ltd

Bob Grundy has over 35 years of global experience in oil and gas exploration and geophysical interpretation. Bob has been the owner of Robert J. Grundy & Associates for the past fourteen years, which is a seismic interpretation and geological consulting firm that has provided services to over twenty clients, including ExxonMobil, PetroHunt, Antara Resources, MegaEnergy, Intrepid Energy, Inflection Energy, Ocean Energy, Antero Resources, and Evergreen Resources. Bob has extensive experience in exploration projects involving foldbelts, carbonate reefs, salt tectonics, coal seam methane, and shale gas plays. Over the past five years, Bob has also been responsible for the geological well programming and geological steering operations for several horizontal-drilling projects involving the Marcellus Shale in the Appalachian Basin. Prior to starting his geophysical consulting firm, Bob was the Lead Geophysicist for VICO in Indonesia in 1990-1997, the Exploration Manager for Intrepid Production Company in 1985-1990, Vice President of Bighorn Geophysical in 1982-1984, and a Senior Geophysicist for Huffco in Indonesia in 1979-1981. Bob began his career in the oil industry working for Amoco in 1974-1979 in Denver where he currently resides.
